Content

  • Training is facilitated by Lauren Hutchings, Yoga Teacher, Certified Traumatologist, Canadian Certified Counsellor, and founder of the teachings of Liberate: A Method To Somatic Freedom.

  • While maintaining the integrity of the complete 6-month training program, this intensive experience offers the most essential elements from all 6 modules curated into a condensed, two-day experience.

    Based on the 2-hour Liberate: Somatic Release workshop, this offering breaks down the foundation of trauma-sensitive support, for yourself personally, and/or professionally through a sound therapeutic alliance through six phases.

  • This weekend intensive will take place in-person only at Yoga Santosha Mission on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 10:00am to 5:00pm with one a one hour lunch break.

    Each day includes 6 hours of both experiential and didactic coursework, totaling 12 hours.

    Each participant will be provided with a manual complete with the essential content covered over the weekend.

    Additionally, PDF copies of the recommended reading material will be provided via email for additional information and content reference.

Often when intense or uncomfortable emotions that evoke pain are experienced, the tendency to fix, adjust, and recalibrate arises in order to bring back a sense of normalcy.

What if the norm is no longer serving and the experience of pain itself keeps attempting to show you a different way? A better way.

The repetitive, rhythmic, and enticing ways of your pain are often shut out, shut down, or altogether shut off out of fear of change, of growing up and out of old ways of connecting to your world. And yet this pain could be our only teacher in the ways of resilience, safety, and true belonging.

Liberate: A Method To Somatic Freedom is a body-centered trauma-informed training that explores just this. The training takes a deeper dive into the human experience, offering tools and techniques to overcome dysfunctional patterning held in the nervous system, the tissues, and the Spirit.

Throughout six comprehensive modules, the neurological, psychological, social, and spiritual effects of trauma will be investigated through the theoretical perspectives of the Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Labanian Movement Methodology, Jungian psychology, in addition to Runic and Buddhist psychology. Through a combination of introspective and cathartic movement practices complemented by didactic instruction, the wisdom of symptoms that were once unconscious now light the path to your liberation and healing.

This is an invitation into the realm of your shadow, meaning that which you have dismissed about your past, your purpose, and yourself. This is an invitation to embark on a supported journey from light to dark in sanctioning what you fear. In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh, no mud, no lotus; your liberation lies here.
